In this edition, Penny Hitchin, our regular feature writer for Oil&GasCONNECT, looks at the development in the West of Shetland, as many companies are now targeting the vast, untapped oil and gas reserves in the challenging deep-water area, on pages 04-05. Following this, Penny explains on pages 26-27 how considerable amounts of time and energy are being spent by the petroleum industry, researching and developing a range of EOR technologies. We also take a closer look at the complex and technically demanding challenges taking offshore platforms and pipelines out of service poses, on pages 28-29. Finally, Penny gives an insight into gaining access to some of the areas of offshore installations machines cannot reach, but people can, on pages 30-32.
We also have, as we like to include in every edition, regular articles covering Law, Training, Recruitment, Environment, Technology, Finance, Security and Q&A’s, which in this edition are answered by Trevor Jee, Managing Director at Jee Ltd., to keep you abreast of issues within the industry. On top of this, we got in touch with Robert Gordon University to get an in-depth description of their findings from their recent ground breaking research to chart the shape and size of offshore workers, on pages 60-61.
